Geographical features give shape and character to the places where we live, ignorant of boundaries and forming links between disparate places in different countries. The Meuse river runs through France, Belgium and Holland and as you travel its length from the source to the sea a commonality begins to emerge among the towns and cities and the people who live along its banks. Amongst the decaying remains of industry and along its wide sombre course, the way the people use the river for leisure remains much the same.
