“Ladies First” is an upcoming Netflix romantic comedy starring Rosamund Pike and Sacha Baron Cohen. Directed by Thea Sharrock, the film adapts the 2018 French comedy “Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile” (“I Am Not an Easy Man”). The story follows a chauvinistic man who finds himself in a parallel universe where women dominate societal roles, challenging his preconceived notions. The ensemble cast features Richard E. Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, Tom Davis, and Weruche Opia.
Haris Zambarloukos, known for his work on “Belfast” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” serves as Director of Photography. Filming commenced in November 2024 at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England, with additional scenes shot in Hampstead. The production continued through January 2025. On-set glimpses revealed role reversals, such as Baron Cohen’s character experiencing catcalling from female builders, underscoring the film’s satirical take on gender dynamics. Pike’s character, clad in a grey tweed overcoat and styled blonde hair, exuded confidence and authority, aligning with the film’s exploration of a female-dominated society.
Produced by Liza Chasin under her 3dot Productions banner, alongside Eleonore Dailly, Edouard de Lachomette, and Four By Two Films, “Ladies First” continues Chasin’s collaboration with Netflix, following projects like “Lonely Planet” and “The Life List.” A release date has yet to be announced. The film aims to offer audiences a comedic yet insightful examination of societal norms, challenging traditional gender roles through its innovative narrative and dynamic performances.
